CLEAN SPACE, CLEAR MIND
This mantra is widely accepted but rarely acted upon. You can have a beautiful home, but if it’s cluttered with papers, small appliances, and chachkies, you will never be able to appreciate the design! So many of us struggle with the seemingly unsolvable problem of simple organization and cleanliness. The idea of completely decluttering and revamping your household can be daunting, but I promise you that it’s not impossible and it’s completely worth it.
This week I’d like to focus on the area of the household that can be most prone to chaos: cupboards and closet space.
Ignoring a problem until it goes away is an unhealthy solution, no matter what area of life we’re talking about -- yet that’s typically the norm when it comes to closet and cupboard storage. These spaces are infamous for disorganization. It can be so easy to just shove everything in, close the door, and forget all about it. Out of sight, out of mind...right? At least until you open the door again and remember the overwhelming mess you left behind!
One method I love for keeping cupboard and closet spaces organized is to use these Black Board Sticker Labels from The White Pad. They are a perfect way to label containers, or really anything else in the house you feel must be labeled! This way you can keep track of what’s what in your cupboard space. It’s important to know exactly what you are keeping in that space so you’re not tempted to store anything else that doesn’t align. Go check them out here!
If you’re struggling to organize your bedroom closet, a good start would be to remove any out-of-season clothing that’s taking up space. Doing this instantly helps it feel less overwhelming and cluttered, and you can start your day without having to sift through countless items of clothes just to find one specific shirt. @Mydomaine has closet organization hacks to make your seasonal clothing and shoes look like a Pinterest-worthy space.
To maintain a clean and organized home, make sure that tidying up isn’t a rare event in your household. If you dedicate small amounts of time to tidy up just a little, rather than waiting a long time for it to become completely disorganized and burdensome, you’ll find more joy and ease in owning a home you can be proud of.
These are a few tips that can point you in the right direction toward a more organized home. If you want more design and organization tips, you can also check out this blog HERE to implement an organizational system for your home!
